XML-Repair

XML-Repair is a powerful maintenance and recovery extension for Polarion designed to fix broken XML files and structural inconsistencies that are difficult or impossible to repair manually through standard UI operations.

Description

Under certain - not always known - conditions, data corruption can affect LiveDocs Documents or Work Items in Polarion. It can lead to broken links, invalid enumeration values, layout issues, missing headings, and other hard-to-resolve problems. XML-Repair helps administrators and teams address these issues quickly and reliably through a growing set of targeted repair capabilities.

The extension is built to make troubleshooting and repair more efficient by allowing users to select specific repairers, scan only relevant issue types, and apply focused fixes where they are needed most. Since version 2.0.0, XML-Repair is directly accessible from the navigation menu, making it even easier to integrate into regular administrative workflows.

Key capabilities include:

  • Repair of broken linked Work Items
  • Replacement of broken links with plain text when needed
  • Global Work Item lookup during link repair
  • Handling of invalid and unresolvable enumeration values
  • Repair of wrong or missing layout assignments
  • Detection and correction of duplicate layout declarations
  • Repair of missing title headings and wrong title-heading positions
  • Collections scanning and repair
  • ToT/ToF captions repair
  • Focused scanning for selected repairers only
  • Clear scan reporting and time limit support
  • An additional level of authorization for the execution of the repairer based on roles
  • REST API
