Understanding how a Work Item relates to the rest of your project shouldn't require navigating multiple screens or building custom queries. Simple Traceability Diagrams surface those relationships where engineers need them most: in the Work Item itself.
What it Does
The form extension renders a three-column diagram showing Back Links, the current Work Item, and Forward Links side by side, connected by visual traces. Each linked Item is displayed as a card — labeled with its Polarion ID, Work Item type, and title, and styled using native type metadata so the diagram always reflects your project's configuration. Link counts are displayed per column, and when the number of linked Items exceeds the view, an overflow indicator keeps the display clean without hiding the full picture.
Only trackable Work Items appear in the diagram, filtering out unrelated links automatically. Administrators can further constrain the view by Work Item type and project through extension attributes, making it straightforward to tailor the diagram for specific workflows or teams.
Who It's For
Systems engineers and requirements managers who need immediate traceability context without leaving the Work Item. Polarion administrators looking to extend form views with meaningful, low-overhead visualizations that reflect their existing type configuration.
