Polarion Companion for MS Word helps import binary MS Word Documents as Polarion Work Items.
Basic features of this Companion
- Import MS Word Documents, using Apache POI parser and creating Polarion Work Items over WebService API
- Mapping of Document artifacts to Polarion Work Items and their attributes - e.g. possibility to define that all "Heading 1"-formatted paragraphs will be imported to Polarion as Requirements (Title of the requirement will be taken from the heading, and description from the text till next heading); "Heading 2"-formatted paragraphs will be imported as linked Change Requests, "Heading 3" - as TestCases, etc.
- Possibility to reproduce Document structure as WorkItem hierarchy (through linking or in a module)
- Support of formatting conversion (i.e. text formatting will be persisted in the Work Item descriptions - e.g. bold, italic, list, tables, etc.)
- Support of embedded pictures (please consider that only the pictures, which are compliant with the client Web Browser requirements, can be successfully exposed in Polarion. E.g. JPEG, GIF, PNG, etc., but not OLE objects or Word Drawings).
The Companion is implemented as Command-line utility, which can be run on any client computer having a HTTP (or HTTPS, if required) connection to Polarion.
