This Connector provides a client connection from Visual Studio to a Polarion server. Visual Studio users can see Polarion project Work Items in the IDE, run queries and apply changes to the items. If the Subversion client for Visual Studio is installed, the user can also check IDs of corresponding Work Items without leaving the IDE. The extension connects to the Polarion server via web services. Users should have a Polarion account, as they will be authenticated during connect. All operations are performed as if the user were working directly in the Polarion web portal.
Compatible Versions and Editions
The FastTrack Connector for Visual Studio is compatible with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 and 2008. It can be used with these Visual Studio editions which provide support of plug-ins:
- Team Suite Edition
- Professional Edition
The Connector may also work with the Standard Edition but this has not been tested.
Subversion Integration
The Connector does not directly support Subversion. If you would like to work with Subversion in Visual Studio, we recommend that you install AnkhSVN. With AnkhSVN installed, you can simplify traceability tasks by using the Copy Details button on the Work Item's toolbar to copy the Work Item name and number to the Clipboard. You can later paste this information to the Subversion client's commit dialog.
