If you chose Polarion for Application Lifecycle Management and modeling with Sparx Enterprise Architect is part of your process the Polarion EA Connector is right for your business!

Inside the EA interface your EA diagrams and elements become Polarion workitems with a click and they can be synchronized in a very simple way.

Diagram images are attached (or updated) and included in the description field of the related workitems.

Is then possible to use Polarion to:

  • Add textual description to your diagrams and elements workitems
  • Manage approval lifecycle of your EA diagrams and elements workitems
  • Link your EA diagrams and elements to other workitems as testcases
  • Generate Polarion Documents with EA diagrams images..
  • Generate wiki pages showing your EA diagrams..

In few words you can manage your EA diagrams and elements exactly as other Polarion workitems!!

From your browser if you click on a workitem description you can reach the related diagram or element inside your EA installation.

Integrated in the EA interface, you can view reports about EA diagrams approved or commented in Polarion and reach the corresponing workitem without leaving the EA interface.

Some feature:

  • Fully integrated within EA installation: no third-party server is required
  • Fully integrated within EA interface; menu items, synchronization results, and also Polarion browser are visible without leaving your EA interface!!
  • User friendly switch from EA environment to Polarion web interface and viceversa.
  • No additional customization is required, neither to EA model nor to Polarion target project configuration
  • Mapping configuration and synchronization data are stored in an external database and not within your own EA or Polarion projects.

Please refer to the manual for all capabilities included.

What do you think?
Well done. Nice simple tool. We have some small problems with it: 1) The image is updated in the repository, however it does not update in the WI description and in the Wiki if {workitem} macro is used (however it shows correctly if $WI.renderDescription($WI, null).getContent() is used). Update comes quite late, even if cache is cleared. 2) The [...] additions to the title cause problems in Wikis when you use $WI.getTitle(). Has to be encapsuled in {pre} macro. 3) In some rare cases the re-export from EA does not work correctly. New WIs are created instead of updating the old ones. However this can be avoided by canceling the export when the fields in 'Select polarion instance' are empty. In this case the information has apparently not been read correctly form the database.

Hello, and thank you for your feedback.. Here the answers... About point 1, we will investigate it. In order to reproduce it we need to know the number of diagrams you have synchronized and the version of Polarion used. As you write, it seems to be a workitem description refresh problem About points 2 and 3, they will be fixed in the next release of the connector. Regards Guido Levi
