– Terms and conditions
The Polarion POP Challenge Summer 2010 (the "Contest") is a competition aimed at encouraging individuals and companies to share their Polarion extensions with the Polarion Community and populate the POP site with more great Polarion extensions.
Got an idea for an extension? Got one already developed or in the works? Here's your chance to show off your ideas and skills and gain recognition from the entire Polarion community... and maybe walk away with a cool prize to boot!
All eligible entries will be judged based on the criteria listed below. Prizes will be awarded for the best and second best entries.
The Contest is sponsored by Polarion Software ("Sponsor").
Contest Period
Polarion POP Challenge Summer 2010 begins on Monday July 19th and ends at Thursday September 30th Central European time (GMT +2). No submissions will be accepted after the ending date.
Rules for Submissions
Your entry may be submitted as any form of the Polarion ALM, Polarion Requirements or Polarion Track&Wiki extension: integration, template, plugin, customization, etc. The design, tools used, and development of the extension is totally open: command line through graphical interface.
- There is no fee required to enter the Contest.
- The number of entrants is not limited.
- Entrants may submit multiple entries (one extension per entry).
- Entries must be "new". Extensions already published on the Polarion POP portal are not eligible.
- Entries must be compliant with the Polarion WebService and/or Open API versions 3.3.x and/or 2010.
How to Submit Contest Entries
To submit an extension for the Contest, fill in Submission_Form.rtf and send it via email, attaching a ZIP archive of your extension, to . If accepted, Polarion Software will publish your submission on the Polarion POP site. Polarion Software reserves right to request changes before accepting any entry, or to reject the entry and not publish it if the entry lacks basic documentation, is not fully operational, or is not, in the Sponsor's sole judgment, conducive or beneficial to the Polarion Community.
We recommend that you submit your extension early in the development cycle. This way, you will enjoy the possibility to obtain feedback from the people who will download and use your extension. You can release multiple versions before the contest ends: only the final version submitted by the deadline will be judged.
Judging Criteria
All entries will be judged by a panel of judges appointed by the Sponsor. The winners will be selected at the sole discretion of the panel, based on the following criteria:
- Fully operational "working" status
- Easy to install and use
- Solves a common problem and/or saves time
- Promotes Polarion as platform and/or motivates other people to develop new extensions
- Makes great impression (even if not actually doing much that's valuable!) ;-))
Categories and Prizes
This Polarion POP Challenge is divided into two categories: Project Templates and Open Challenge.
Project Templates
We are looking for Polarion project templates supporting different project management methodologies & processes: RUP, XP, Waterall, or various artiacts: support tickets, HW Test Cases etc.
Two prizes will be awarded:
First prize: 1 Apple iPad for the winner and $10,000 credit for Polarion licenses for the winner's company.
Second prize: 1 Apple iPod Touch for the winner and $5,000 credit for Polarion licenses for the winner's company.
Open Challenge
All other types of extensions will compete in the open category.
Grand prize: 1 Apple iPad for the winner and $10,000 credit for Polarion licenses for the winner´s company.
Prize Terms and Conditions
- Value of prizes is stated in United States dollars (USD)
- Value of license prizes is according to standard retail pricing in effect for the licenses at the time the prizes are awarded.
- License prizes must be claimed before the end of 2010. Any licenses not claimed will be forfeited.
- Polarion Software reserves the right to substitute any prize package with another prize of equal or greater value should the advertised prize not be available for any reason.
- Contest entrants shall bear any and all expenses related to entering or participating in the contest. In addition, prize winners shall must bear the cost of any applicable taxes, duties, or fees of any kind which may be imposed or due as a result of accepting or using any prize awarded through the Contest.
Winner Notification
Winners will be notified on or before Monday October 11th via email or telephone. The Apple IPad/IPod prize will be awarded within 30 days thereafter. The company of the winner will be provided with the Polarion software licenses upon their request any time before the end of 2010.
Winners' names and their company affiliation will be posted on Polarion Software weblog at http://blog.polarion.com. Prize winners may be required to sign and return a statement of eligibility, a signed copy of the Polarion Pop Challenge Terms and Conditions, a liability/publicity release (except where prohibited by law) and provide any additional information that may be required for Polarion Software to comply with any applicable laws or governmental regulations.
A winner may be disqualified, and an alternate winner selected, if he/she fails to provide requested information in a timely manner, or if the original winner cannot be contacted, or if any physical prize is returned as undeliverable.
Licensing of Submissions
All entries submitted must be licensed under an Apache open source license, and must comply with the terms of these licenses such as providing the source code (if any).
Eligibility
The Contest is open to anyone 18 years of age or older at the time of entry. The Contest is void where prohibited by law.
Limitation of Liability
ALL ENTRANTS SHALL PARTICIPATE IN THE CONTEST ENTIRELY AT THEIR OWN RISK. THE SPONSOR HEREBY DISCLAIMS ANY AND ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS, IMPLIED, STATUTORY OR OTHERWISE WITH RESPECT TO THE CONTEST. THE SPONSOR SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF, OR RELATED TO PARTICIPATION OR INABILITY TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CONTEST, EVEN IF THE SPONSOR IS ADVISED IN WRITING IN ADVANCE OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. The Sponsor assumes no responsibility for any computer, internet, telephone transmission or technical malfunctions that may occur during participation in the Contest, or for unauthorized access to, or alteration, theft, or destruction or any extension or any other materials submitted by Contest entrants. The Sponsor is not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by website users, Contest participants or any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest, or for any technical or human error which may occur in the processing of submissions in the Contest. The Sponsor assumes no responsibility for any error, interruption, defect, or delay in operation or transmission, failures or technical malfunction of the Internet, or any other communication system, network, or device whatsoever. The Sponsor is not responsible for any injury or damage to participants or to any computer related to or resulting from participating or downloading materials in the Contest. Some jurisdictions may not allow certain limitations on liability and so the foregoing limitations may not apply to you.
General Legal Provisions
The Sponsor reserves the right to discontinue, cancel or reschedule the Contest, or to disqualify any entry, for any reason or no reason, in its sole discretion. The Contest and these Official Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the State of California, excluding its conflicts of laws principles. By entering the Contest, you consent to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the state and federal courts located in San Francisco, California. If any provision of these Official Terms and Conditions is held by a court of competent jurisdiction to be contrary to law, such provision shall be changed and interpreted so as to best accomplish the objectives of the original provision to the fullest extent allowed by law, provided that if no such interpretation is possible, the provision shall be stricken and the remaining provisions of these Official Rules shall remain in effect to the fullest extent allowable under applicable law. These Official Terms and Conditions constitute the final, complete and exclusive understanding between the Sponsor and you with respect to your participation in the Contest, and supersedes any other representations, rules, or agreements, whether written or oral.
